#DXCC

DXCC is the list of entities, often called countries, that most amateur radio awards and many contests use to decide what counts as a separate country. It does not follow political borders, because islands, remote territories and special areas can be entities of their own. Contest rules say whether the DXCC list, a modified version of it or another list applies, and logging programs identify entities with a country file that must be kept up to date. A wrong or outdated file can show the wrong country for a callsign and distort your multiplier count. The articles under this tag explain how the list is used in contests and how to avoid country errors in your log.
