#Rate Meter

The rate meter is the display in a contest logging program that shows how many QSOs per hour you are making, usually over several windows such as the last 10 minutes, the last hour and the whole contest. Short windows react quickly but fluctuate, while long windows are steadier and lag behind real changes. Used well, the meter helps an operator decide when to move frequency, change band or take a break. Used badly, it encourages hasty decisions based on a single quiet minute. The articles under this tag explain how to read the numbers while operating and how to compare them with the statistics after the contest. They apply to N1MM Logger+, DXLog and Win-Test alike.
