#Log Backup
A log backup is a separate copy of a contest log or logger database, made so that a power cut, crash or damaged file does not destroy the result of a whole contest. Good practice combines the logger’s own automatic backups with a second copy on another drive or device and a clean power supply for the computer. A backup is only useful if it has been restored at least once in a test. After the contest the first step is to export the Cabrillo file and store several copies before any editing begins. The articles under this tag explain what can go wrong during a contest and how to recover quickly. They are written for contesters who want to be sure that their hours of operating are safe.
