#Band Ratio

The band ratio is the share of a contest log’s QSOs made on each band. It is easy to calculate from the QSOs by band and shows at a glance where a station is strong and where it is weak. A high share can reflect a long opening, a good antenna or a habit of staying too long, while a low share can reflect a closed band, a weaker antenna or a late start. The ratio is a question-raising tool, not a target, and it is most useful when read together with the hourly view and the rate. Comparing it with your own earlier logs shows whether changes came from conditions or from decisions. The articles under this tag explain how to read the ratio and what to do with the answer.
